Media history

The Media Explorer contains several features which allow reverting changes made to media files in the project library.

Revisions

When a project library media file is selected, a revision selector is shown in the information section of the preview pane. The revision selector lists all previous revisions of the selected file, along with the action which created the new revision, the date and time the action was made, and the user who made it. A new revision is created each time a media file is overwritten. Selecting a previous revision shows a preview of it in the preview pane, along with its relevant information.

Based on system settings, a media item’s file size might be too big for it to be recorded once the file is overwritten. In this case, a revision is still recorded and can be seen in the revision selector, but cannot be selected and cannot be restored. A suitable warning is shown when such file is being overwritten.

To restore a media file to a previous revision, select the desired revision and press the Restore button. Restoring a previous revision creates a new revision, so it can also be easily reverted.

Removed Media

In the media library tree, the Removed Media folder lists all media files which have been removed from the project, along with the date and time of their removal. Selecting a removed media file shows a preview of it in the preview pane, along with its relevant information. The Removed Media folder only shows in the project library tree once one or more media files have been removed from the project.

To restore the selected media file to the project library, press the Restore button.
