Mind Games

Game elements are a special type of elements, which have a high degree of flexibility both in their functionality and in their visual appearance.Game elements can be inserted in test documents only. Games can be inserted via the game picker, using Interactions > Mind Games > Game Picker.

 

The game picker shows a thumbnail of each game, along with a short description of the game and its key attributes. Alternatively, games can also be quickly inserted by selecting them directly under Interactions > Mind Games.For more information about adding and using games, see using mind games.The following properties are common to all games:

 

Behavior

Replayable Select yes – The start game button is always shown, and the game can be restarted at any point.
no – The start game button is hidden after the game is started, and the game cannot be restarted at any point.
after game end – The start game button is hidden after the game is started, and is reshown only once the game has ended.
Recycle Questions Checkbox When on, questions are recycled once the learner exhausts the question list (and the game isn’t over). When off, the game is ended once the learner exhausts the question list.
Force One Attempt Checkbox When on, a single answer attempt is forced on the game’s questions.
Show Continue Select always – Show the continue game button at all times, allowing the learner to proceed before answering the question.
after answer – Only show the continue game button after the learner has answered the question.
auto check – Don’t show the check answer button, and automatically check the answer once the continue game button is used.
auto continue – Don’t show the continue game button, and automatically continue after the question has been answered.

Appearance

Show Score Checkbox When on, score is displayed along with the game.
Show Results Checkbox When on, the results layer is shown after the game has ended.

Incompatibility

Redirect To Resource An alternate standalone document to redirect to in place of the game, when flash is not supported.

Sound Effects

Sound (default) Select Determines the initial state of sounds in the game. When off, sounds are initially muted.
Background Media Audio file to play as background music throughout the entire game. The volume for this sound can be set via <Background Volume>.
Background Volume Number Determines the volume of the background music, with 100 being full volume, and 0 being muted.
Start Media Audio file to play when the game is started.
Question Media Audio file to play when a question is shown.
Correct Media Audio file to play when a question is answered correctly.
Incorrect Media Audio file to play when a question is answered incorrectly.
Win Media Audio file to play when the game is won.
Lose Media Audio file to play when the game is lost.
